Border Crossings Between North Macedonia and Serbia

The border between North Macedonia and Serbia traces a path through the heart of the Balkans, a route that has been a primary corridor for travel for centuries. Once an internal boundary within Yugoslavia, it is now an international border on the main route connecting Central Europe with Greece and Turkey.

You will find that the vast majority of travel and commerce moves through the Preševo (Serbia) and Tabanovce (North Macedonia) crossing. This checkpoint is located on the E75 motorway, a critical piece of infrastructure for the entire region. Consequently, it is frequently congested, and you should expect significant wait times, particularly during the summer holiday season when many people from the European diaspora travel south. There are a couple of smaller crossings, such as Prohor Pčinjski, that serve local communities, but for most journeys, the main highway crossing will be your focus.
