BCH Border Crossings Between Armênia and Georgia

Border Crossings Between Armênia and Georgia

Your journey between Georgia and Armenia takes you deep into the Caucasus mountains, a region of profound history and powerful landscapes. The border connects two of the world's oldest Christian nations, and the routes between them offer some of the most rewarding scenery in the region. You have three main crossing points to facilitate your travel.

The most frequented crossing is at Sadakhlo (Georgia) and Bagratashen (Armenia). This is the primary route for anyone traveling between the capitals, Tbilisi and Yerevan, and it is the best-equipped for handling tourist traffic. Further west, the Ninotsminda (Georgia) and Bavra (Armenia) crossing provides an alternative, especially if you are exploring Georgia's Samtskhe-Javakheti region. A third, more minor crossing is at Guguti-Gogavan. Road conditions can be variable once you are off the main highways, and you should always be prepared for changing weather, especially if crossing at the higher-altitude Bavra point during the winter.
