Monthly Update (October 2026):

About this crossing

Location and Basic Connections

On the Russian side the checkpoint is at kilometre 108 of the road from Omsk to Odesskoye and the Kazakh border, near the village of Belostok in the Odessky district. On the Kazakh side the road continues to Bidaik and the Ualikhanov district, part of the North Kazakhstan region. The surrounding country is flat steppe and farmland.

Who Can Cross

Russia classifies Odesskoye as a bilateral road checkpoint for passengers and freight. It serves citizens of Russia and Kazakhstan, Russian and Kazakh vehicles, and goods and animals moving between the two countries. Citizens of other countries cannot cross here and must use a multilateral (international) crossing on one of the main highways between Russia and Kazakhstan.

Documents

Russian and Kazakh citizens can cross with their national ID documents under the agreements between the two countries. Drivers need their licence, vehicle registration and insurance valid in the other country. Freight goes through full customs, veterinary and phytosanitary controls.

Hours and Waits

Both sides work 24 hours a day. Cars usually clear in under an hour, but trucks can wait several hours, especially at the end of the month and before holidays. Kazakhstan has tested an electronic queue for trucks at Bidaik, so freight drivers should check whether they need to book a slot.

Road Conditions and Seasons

Winters are long and cold, with snowstorms that can close roads on the steppe. Carry warm clothing, food and fuel in winter, and check the weather before you set off. In spring, thaw can damage minor roads.

Money and Services

Russia uses the rouble and Kazakhstan the tenge. Services at the checkpoint are basic, so change money and fill up in Omsk, Odesskoye or the nearest Kazakh town.

Final Planning Notes

Use this crossing only if you hold Russian or Kazakh citizenship. Everyone else should plan a route through a multilateral crossing. Allow extra time with a truck, and take winter weather seriously.
